Black History Month

Black History Month provides us with an opportunity to create an awareness of the history of Black persons in North America, to recognize the contributions of persons of African ancestry in our society, and to celebrate the historical achievements of Black people.

Black History Month also provides us with an opportunity to educate.  Black History is the history of slavery and slavery is a history of brutality.  Slavery, segregation, lynching, hatred, and being treated as less than human are synonymous with the “N” word.  This Black History Month presentation aims to increase awareness and understanding. Once people understand Black History, they can never again claim ignorance or use the “N” word without knowing what it really means. Everyone deserves to feel safe, equal and respected. #ingnoranceisn’tbliss
